Deductive reasoning<\/strong> is by far the most common type of logical reasoning in that it applies a general rule in specific situations from which conclusions can be drawn. When I say all men cheat, that is a major premise and the minor premise would be \u201cDan is a man\u201d, so Dan cheats. The conclusion can be drawn very fast and it is straightforward.<\/p>\nIn this example, when I said that all men cheat, it is logically correct to say that Dan cheats because he is a man. In deductive reasoning, no new information is added and conclusions are always drawn on the existing piece of information.<\/p>\n
Inductive reasoning, specific conclusions are generalized to majorly general conclusions. A good example is if a statement said, \u201cAll men are black\u201d. The conclusions were maybe drawn without the individual coming across a white man.<\/p>\n
Inductive reasoning can always be a huge risk as drawn conclusions might not really be true. However, in the modern world, inductive reasoning has seen great use in fields like physics.<\/p>\n
Abductive reasoning<\/strong> on the other hand is somehow similar to inductive reasoning since all the conclusions drawn here rely mostly on their probability of happening. This is the third type of logical reasoning. In abductive reasoning, it is stated that the conclusion is drawn on the item with the highest probability or chance of happening.<\/p>\nAn example is saying that \u2018The cup is filled with filled pencils\u2019, then saying that I have one unused pencil will automatically draw conclusions that the pencil came from the cup with many filled pencils. This is the power of using abductive reasoning. Although its conclusions might just seem obvious, it is purely based on the most plausible reasoning. This type of reasoning is commonly used in the field of research and science.

\nFormal and informal logic reasoning<\/strong> is the fourth type of logic reasoning. Formal reasoning is reasoning made of valid premises and valid conclusions. It is almost similar to deductive reasoning as no new information is added and it hugely depends on rearranging information to derive conclusions. <\/strong><\/p>\nInformal reasoning on the other hand incorporates all the elements of deductive and informal logic reasoning. However, it also relies on probability in drawing conclusions. In reality, informal reasoning can be closely related to abductive reasoning.<\/p>\n
Facts about logical reasoning<\/h2>\n
In logical reasoning, there is no definition of anything like wrong. In logical reasoning, the premises or the conclusion might be wrong but under the above methods of logical reasoning, it can be right. Conclusions are always drawn based on logical reasoning and not the validity of the context of certain conclusions or premises.<\/p>\n
If we say \u2018sleeping a lot builds your brain\u2019, and say Dan is mad, then if a question asked: \u201cwhat can Dan do to build his brain\u201d. The answer will generally be to sleep a lot. The conclusion drawn has been derived from the premises.<\/p>\n
By just viewing the context you would think that the whole statement is wrong as sleeping does not build the brain but logically it is correct. It is therefore evident that the conclusions made in logical thinking hugely depend on the relationships of the stipulated elements and how they are logically related to making the whole context functional.<\/p>\n
Logical tests<\/h2>\n
Logical tests<\/a> are often carried out to test an individual\u2019s IQ and aptitude. Logical reasoning is universal and is used by most human beings to make decisions in their day-to-day life. Logical thinking also enhances an individual to develop solutions to day-to-day challenges by linking related characters and drawing valid conclusions from them.<\/p>\nIf you have logical reasoning skills, you should be able to apply them everywhere. Better developed logical conclusions enable one to understand, analyze and question the arguments based on the context statements.
